Chapter 50
Yan Su learned that someone was spreading slander about Star Pirate Showdown online while accompanying Yan Jing to negotiate the division of marital property at the Su Corporation.
Su Yi was a cold and unfeeling man in relationships. Back when he loved Yan Jing, he had been willing to defy his entire family for her. Now, having shifted his affections, he treated Yan Jing as a discarded woman without any value.
In the long conference room at the top of the Su Corporation building, Yan Jing and Su Yi sat at opposite ends, former spouses now strangers and enemies.
“Su Yi, don’t think about playing tricks with the property division. I have evidence of our marital assets during the marriage. Even if you transfer them, the law won’t allow it.”
After several months, seeing this man again stirred no emotions in Yan Jing’s heart.
She firmly held onto the leverage of the property division—not because she was greedy for money but because she didn’t want the wealth they accumulated after marriage to benefit Yan Jiaoyue.
Yan Su sat beside her, coldly staring at Su Yi. Without saying a word, he gave Yan Jing psychological support.
Leaning back in her chair with her arms crossed, Yan Jing felt immensely satisfied seeing Su Yi’s frustrated expression.
The years of humiliation she endured in the Su family were finally avenged.
Su Yi was indeed in a foul mood. He was eager to finalize the divorce, not just because of Yan Jing’s aggressive stance but also for a more pressing reason—Yan Jiaoyue was pregnant.
Perhaps it was his different state of mind. When Yan Jing once proposed having a child, he had been hesitant and adamantly refused.
But now, with Yan Jiaoyue—the woman he favored—when he saw the confusion and helplessness on the face of this girl, 12 years younger than him, as she looked at the pregnancy test, his heart softened inexplicably. Not only did he agree to her keeping the child, but he also developed a trace of anticipation for the baby in her womb.
This child came unexpectedly but had become a treasure in Su Yi’s heart. He wouldn’t allow it to be born with the stigma of being illegitimate.
Thus, the divorce became an urgent matter.
“I’m willing to make concessions on the property division,” Su Yi said darkly, his expression softening slightly as he thought of Yan Jiaoyue and the baby she carried. “But Yan Jing, it’s absolutely impossible for you to take half of my wealth. I’ve already asked my lawyer to draft a new agreement. This is my final concession.”
He gestured towards the lawyer with his chin.
Following his instructions, the corporate lawyer placed the agreement in front of Yan Jing and nodded. “Ms. Yan, please review.”
Yan Jing was taken aback. Given Wei Fang’s personality, she had expected her to never allow Su Yi to compromise easily on property division, thinking this divorce case would drag on indefinitely. She hadn’t expected Su Yi to be so accommodating.
She cast a skeptical glance at Su Yi and opened the divorce agreement. Skimming through the terms, her shock only grew.
She had proposed taking half of Su Yi’s wealth without much hope, intending merely to provoke the unfaithful man.
As long as Su Yi compensated her for her losses over the five years of their marriage, that would suffice.
Unexpectedly, in the agreement drafted by Su Yi’s lawyer, she was allotted a full 30% of the property.
Although 30% might seem small, in cash terms, it was enough for her to live extravagantly for a lifetime.
Yan Jing felt puzzled. Had Su Yi lost his mind to offer such generous terms?
Still, she wasted no time signing her name at the bottom of the document.
After moving out of the Su family home and living with her younger siblings, she had finally been able to breathe fresh air again. Only a fool would reject such favorable divorce terms and continue entangling with Su Yi.
Putting down the pen, she felt a weight lift from her chest and smiled at Su Yi. “We’ll go our separate ways. I’m a petty person, so I won’t wish you a happy family life or a successful career, Mr. Su.”
Su Yi’s icy expression grew even darker.
Even though he had ordered his legal team to work overtime drafting this divorce agreement, seeing how swiftly Yan Jing signed it left him feeling as though he’d been duped.
But the matter of the divorce was settled. Su Yi said coldly, “We’ll get the certificate at the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow.”
Yan Jing shook her head. “Let’s go now. I don’t want any delays. The sooner we finalize this, the sooner I’ll feel at ease.”
Su Yi’s expression turned even sourer, his entire demeanor exuding a chilling aura.
The legal team observing on the sidelines shrank back, wishing they could disappear entirely.
“Let’s go,” Su Yi finally spat out after a long pause.
Yan Su accompanied his eldest sister to collect the divorce certificate before returning to the company.
Seeing Hou Jun pacing anxiously, his face covered in acne from stress, Yan Su couldn’t help but chuckle. “Is it really that bad, Brother Hou? After all the storms we’ve weathered together, you’re panicking just because some people are badmouthing Star Pirate Showdown online and calling it plagiarism?”
Hou Jun, unlike Yan Su, was in no mood for jokes.
He pulled out his phone and showed Yan Su the vile comments online. “Don’t underestimate public opinion on the internet. Rumors can destroy someone. I’ve been monitoring the trending searches for hours now. At first, the hashtag #StarPirateShowdownPlagiarism was at the very bottom with no attention. But two hours ago, it skyrocketed like a rocket, climbing the rankings. Now it’s sixth, with tens of thousands of likes and comments. If you tell me this isn’t being manipulated behind the scenes, I won’t believe it.”
He was unaware that months ago, Yan Su had been smeared on the university forum but had brilliantly fought back.
Hou Jun still thought that Yan Su, having always been successful in his career, didn’t grasp the gravity of the situation.
Yan Su pursed his lips and began reading the comments one by one.
Ignoring the insults, he focused on those detailing how he and Hou Jun were allegedly unethical and betraying their former employer. From these, he deduced a conclusion:
The person stirring up trouble must be connected to Shi Zhuowen and possibly Su Ye.
Hou Jun looked worried. “President Yan, should I reach out to some contacts to see if we can take down the trending topic?”
Yan Su thought for a moment before shaking his head and suddenly smiling. “No need. Brother Hou, don’t you see this is a great opportunity to promote Star Pirate Showdown? Since someone behind the scenes has handed us a ladder, we should use it to our advantage.”
Hou Jun was stunned, eyes widening. “You mean…”
Yan Su snapped his fingers. “Didn’t you recruit all those employees that Ke Wang fired? With so many witnesses, what are we afraid of?”
Understanding dawned on Hou Jun. His previously tense expression relaxed, and he patted Yan Su’s shoulder with a laugh. “Jiale, I used to think you were a technical genius. Turns out, you’re also a master strategist.”
That evening, when Yan Su returned home, Yan Jing had already seen the trending topic and looked at him with concern. “Do you need my help?”
Yan Su shook his head. “No, it’s just a small matter. Big Sis, you’ve just gotten rid of Su Yi. Why not take a trip to relax?”
Yan Jing studied his face for a moment. Seeing his relaxed and carefree demeanor, she finally felt reassured.
“I’m planning to go back to our hometown for a while to spend time with our parents. Being a daughter-in-law in the Su family for these past years took away my freedom, and I’ve grown distant from them.”
Yan Jing acted quickly. The next day, she bought a ticket and returned to their hometown.
Meanwhile, Wei Fang was furious when she found out Su Yi had given a full 30% of his assets to his ex-wife.
She was so enraged she nearly passed out and couldn’t even locate Yan Jing to confront her.
“Have you lost your mind? How could you give such a large sum to Yan Jing—and in cash? I knew from the beginning that she’d be a troublemaker! I didn’t want her in the family, but you insisted on marrying her. Now, after just a few years, you’re divorced, leaving us with losses in both wealth and reputation. I’m a laughingstock in high society and can’t even show my face in public!”
Wei Fang sobbed hysterically.
Su Yi stood in front of her like a statue, his face dark. Suddenly, he pulled out a pregnancy test result. “Jiaoyue is pregnant. Or do you want your grandson to be labeled a bastard?”
Her sobs abruptly stopped.
Wei Fang wiped her tears and snatched the report from his hand, scanning it quickly.
“This isn’t fake, is it? Did you forge this?” she asked skeptically.
After all, her son had been married to Yan Jing for over a decade with no children. Now, after an affair, there was suddenly a pregnancy?
Su Yi’s slightly upturned lips straightened. He coldly took back the report. “Believe it or not, but I must marry Jiaoyue as soon as possible. I won’t let her give birth without a proper status.”
Wei Fang opened her mouth, wanting to criticize Yan Jiaoyue’s background, but the thought of the unborn grandchild made her hold back.
She couldn’t suppress her joy at the prospect of becoming a grandmother. That very evening, she shared the news with the entire family.
Su Ye, who was in the middle of dinner, froze in shock. Yan Jiaoyue was going to become his sister-in-law?
Since the incident at the hot spring resort, he had avoided meeting Yan Jiaoyue to avoid suspicion. Yet, he constantly thought of her, her elegant figure lingering in his mind.
Although Su Ye was a playboy, he had principles: he would never get involved with the women of his friends or brothers.
Yan Jiaoyue was the exception.
With a bitter heart, Su Ye left the Su family residence, intending to unwind at a nightclub. However, he received a call from Jiang Xuefeng.
“Second Young Master, are you free tomorrow night? I heard the Wei family’s young heiress is hosting a birthday party and invited many guests. How about taking me along to broaden my horizons?”
Su Ye gritted his teeth, nearly crushing his phone.
Why hadn’t he realized before how greedy and shameless Jiang Xuefeng was?
The Wei family’s young heiress was his distant cousin, the only daughter in a doting family. Yet Jiang Xuefeng had the audacity to target her.
Suppressing his irritation, Su Ye gave Jiang Xuefeng a perfunctory response and then drove to Ke Wang Gaming Company.
Lately, things hadn’t been going well for him. Only crushing Yan Jiale’s reputation and forcing him out of the city would bring him satisfaction.
He was determined to see Yan Jiale’s downfall in the most disgraceful way possible.
